Dust Working Party
The Dust Working Party was formed in April 2014.
The Dust Working Party is led by Garry Duncan, a KCCCC Member with an interest in environmental emissions and ties to the Kanmantoo Action Group (KAG). The KAG in an important stakeholder group representing residents living nearby the mine and has expressed strong concerns about dust on behalf of this group.
The Dust Working Party addresses ‘dust and lifestyle’ and ‘dust and health’ issues with the aim of:
- promoting greater understanding of dust issues and
- facilitating community input to company decision making aimed at reducing the impact of dust on the community and particularly residents living nearby the mine.
The Dust Working Party is open to all members of the Committee. The broader community is also involved in the work of the Dust Working Party through regular reports and discussion at Committee meetings along with invitations to various events like mine visits as guests of Working Party Members.
Master Plan for the Kanmantoo Callington area
The Master Plan Working Party was formed in September 2014.
The Master Plan Working Party is led by Fiona Challen, a KCCCC Member with an interest in education, socio-economics and the future of the Kanmantoo Callington area.
The Master Planning process is particularly relevant to the Committee given the current stage of development of the Kanmantoo Copper Mine which includes continuous rehabilitation, native vegetation and Significant Environmental Benefit (SEB) programs and consideration of mine closure planning such as final landscape design.
The Master Plan Working Party is open to all members of the Committee. A broader group of stakeholders is also involved including the District Council of Mt Barker, State Government agencies like the Department of State Development as well as groups like the SA Mining History Group and interested individuals from the local community.
